Ilkasua Community Based Organization (CBO) is a registered community organization in Kenya founded by a group of dedicated youths from Ilkasua, a rural community located in the Amboseli region of Kajiado County.
The organization was established with a shared vision of transforming their community by addressing the pressing challenges that residents have endured for generations.
Having grown up in Ilkasua and experienced firsthand the hardships faced by families in the area, these young leaders came together to initiate sustainable solutions that improve the quality of life for their people.
The organization is driven by the belief that community-led initiatives can create lasting impact and bring hope to underserved areas.
For many years, residents of Ilkasua have faced a severe shortage of clean and accessible water. Women, children, and even elderly members of the community are forced to walk for many kilometers every day in search of water.
In most cases, water is transported using donkey carts or carried manually over long distances. This daily struggle consumes valuable time that could otherwise be spent on education, economic activities, and family wellbeing.
Children sometimes miss school, while families spend hours each day searching for water.
The situation is made even more dangerous by the proximity of Ilkasua to Amboseli National Park and surrounding wildlife habitats.
Community members risk encounters with elephants, hyenas, and other wildlife while traveling long distances to water sources.
To improve the quality of life in Ilkasua community by providing sustainable access to clean water and promoting community-led development initiatives.
A self-sustaining Ilkasua community where every household has access to clean and safe water and where residents live with dignity, safety, and opportunity.
Ilkasua CBO has already conducted a hydrogeological survey confirming underground water potential. The next step is drilling a community borehole and building a sustainable water system.
Drilling a reliable borehole to provide long-term water access.
Solar powered system ensuring reliable pumping.
Water storage tanks for community supply.
Fencing the borehole for long-term protection.
Piping systems delivering water to homes.
Safe water collection points for families.
Every contribution brings us closer to ensuring that families in Ilkasua have access to clean and safe water.
Together we can make sure that no child, woman, or elder has to walk miles in search of water again.
